Welcome to Four Oaks Pre-School Playgroup

By attending playgroup, playing with other children and coming into contact with other adults, your child will broaden his or her experience and the friendships formed will greatly assist their social development and ensure a smooth transition into primary school.

Playgroup manager Heather Moss and her team of ‘Aunties’ are very dedicated and enjoy helping young children to learn through play, encouraging their independence, confidence and development of social skills.  Each ‘Auntie’ is fully qualified to communicate the Early Years Foundation Stages and many have additional qualification.

 Every child will be allocated a ‘family group’ which is lead by one of the ‘Aunties’.  The children will sometimes be taken into their group for observation and assessment purposes.  You will receive a letter shortly after starting playgroup to let you know which family group your child is in.

 As a parent you are your child’s first teacher and we encourage all parents to become actively involved in playgroup.  Details of how you can help can be found later in the prospectus.

Charitable Status

Four Oaks Pre-school Playgroup is a non-commercial, non-profit making organization.  Whilst the majority of playgroups income comes by way of fees and local authority grants, playgroup relies on volunteer help and additional fundraising events to maintain the quality and range of activities for the children.   We are therefore a registered charity, whose many ventures are organized by an enthusiastic committee of parents.  We are registered with the Charity Commission as Edge hill Pre-School Playgroup and have the working name of Four Oaks Pre-School Playgroup.  Registered Charity number 1041584

OFSTED

Our most recent OFSTED inspection was February 2008.   We had a good report, a copy of which can be found in full either on the parent’s notice board or by visiting the OFSTED website www. Ofsted.gov.uk.  The following are some comments from the report;

 ‘Children are cared for in warm, clean, premises…(and) respond well to the stimulating environment. They know the routines and are keen to join in with the activities.  Good, relationships between the staff and children are evident, they communicate easily with each other, which helps the children to enjoy their time at the group.’

 ‘The quality of teaching and learning is good. As a result, children are making good progress’.

‘Children enjoy listening to stories and make good use of the book area during free play sessions.’
