Links with Four Oaks Primary School

There are strong link between playgroup and Four Oaks Primary School.  Besides the obvious link of being on the same premises, when our children are in their pre-school year Head Teacher Mrs Sutton welcomes our children into school in a variety of ways. Children are invited into assembly, to sports day and are encouraged to use the school library, hall and playground. 

 If you child attends our Wednesday afternoon session, from Easter onwards they will take their packed lunch into the school hall.  Children who are offered a place at the school will also be invited to an additional afternoon session from May onwards and will then have the opportunity to try School dinners. These strong links make the transition into school much easier for children and parents alike.

 A place at Four Oaks Pre-School Playgroup does not entitle you to a place at Four Oaks Primary School. Places at the school are allocated by Birmingham City Council.  For further information on the school entrance system and to see the criteria please visit their website, www.birmingham.gov.uk/education.

Links with the community

We aim to make the presence of playgroup known throughout our community and to help as many parents as possible in the early years of their child’s life.  Other services offered from the playgroup building include;

 Bumps to Babies

This group is for expectant mother through to when your child is toddling confidently.  The group meet every Monday afternoon during term time from 1.30 – 3p.m.  Come along for chat, coffee/tea and biscuit and to meet other mum’s to share experiences and coo over each others baby! The group is run by mother and childminder, Anita Elsom. Cost 50p per session.

 Mother and Toddler

A good way to introduce your child to the playgroup area is to join out Friday afternoon Toddler Group.  Run by mother of five, Lorraine Botterill and her team, parents/carers and child can join together in the fun art activities, play in the outdoor area and enjoy a chat, coffee/tea and busicuits. Cost £1.50 for one child, + 50p for each additional child.

We often call on local business to support playgroup through either sponsorship or by donating prizes to our raffles.  If you run a business and would like to know how you can help please contact playgroup (contact details are on the front page).  All help is welcome and we ensure that if you help us, as many people as possible know about you!
